Cerebral Palsy can be very complex. People with CP
often need several medications, therapies, and special care depending on their
severity of the CP. Although there is no cure for CP, steps can be taken to make
life better for someone with CP and may help a person become less dependant on
others or equipment and supplies and become more independent.
I have tried to break down each type of therapy into
subcategories. Each subcategory links to examples and more research concerning that
particular area of therapy. This page will continually be updated with new content and
research so please come back often. Listed below is
information that may can get you or a person you know with CP get to a higher level
of independence.
Physical Therapies
Occupational Therapies
Electrical Stimulation
Hyberbaric Oxygen
Therapy
Other Therapies
Keep in mind that not all of these treatments are available
everywhere, nor will they necessarily be effective. Consult with your doctor(s) and
therapist(s), talk to people who have tried the treatment, and do your own research. As
always, remember that health care is a commodity like any other in the market--caveat
emptor! (Buyer beware!)
