Tammy G. tvanderheide@weber.edu  I am a dental hygiene student and an auntie of eight-year-old girl with cerebral palsy. My thesis project is on access to dental care for people with cerebral palsy. I would appreciate any feedback or stories that you may have concerning this topic. Has it been a problem for you? Thanks!
Monica R mgrobert2@yahoo.com  I have a Male cousin ,Benjamin ,who is 16 yrs old. He has CP but has also suffered emotional, physical abuse from his step-parent. My mother is in the process of having some type of intervention occur to help him. He is now in the care of other relatives but it is only temporary. The courts are also involved but most of the answers we get are either he can go to a foster home or a relative has to take him. I would like to have some information on what the rights are for a child who is disabled in the US and what type of resources my mother and my family can use to help him. Foster care is not an option as not only will he be 18 soon but we do not want anything else to happen to him. Is there any other government assisted resources we can depend on for when he turns 18? Please contact me with any information I may need.
Floris Wood tulipstwo@hotmail.com  I am living with a woman with CP [in Toledo, Ohio]  and we are planning an October wedding. It is my second marriage but her first. We have had a great relationship since we met nearly a year ago. I am able bodied and we both work full time so assisting her is a lot of work for me. But I enjoy it and and enjoy the intimacy that comes with such a relationship. We hire a PCA for about 10 hours a week. We might increase hat some day but right now I enjoy working very closely with her and we would rather do things ourselves than supervise someone else to do them.
Edward Hill Forenzmed@aol.com  I am a physician who specializes in forensic perinatal encephalopathy. My organization, Forensic Perinatal Group, performs not for profit studies to determine the following:

1. Type of encephalopathy.
2. Cause and medical mechanism of encephalopathy.
3. Probable time range of encephalopathic occurrence.
4. Whether the encephalopathy was preventable (if desired to be studied.)

My organization also has a "Parent Support" division that is directed by a Pediatrician who is available to provide clinical information to parents and answer any medical oriented questions they may have regarding cerebral palsy related medical conditions.

I offer information support with regard to cause of cerebral palsy to any parent who is interested.
